Ridgewood NJ, Authorities in Ridgewood, New Jersey, have announced a major breakthrough in a series of crimes that put local business owners on edge. A 19-year-old Ridgewood man has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of commercial burglaries that plagued the village’s bustling Central Business District earlier this month.

Christiam Gomez, 19, of Ridgewood, was charged following a detailed and “comprehensive investigation” carried out by the Ridgewood Police Department’s Detective Bureau, police announced on Friday, October 31st.

The Details: Eight Businesses Hit in Two Weeks

According to Capt. Glenn Ender, the burglary spree occurred over a concentrated period of time. Between October 1st and October 17th, a total of eight businesses in the downtown area reported being burglarized overnight.

This pattern of criminal activity was a major concern for the local community and highlighted the need for swift action by law enforcement.

“Through a comprehensive investigation—and despite the suspect’s efforts to conceal his identity—Ridgewood Detectives identified the suspect and developed probable cause to file charges,” the department stated in its official release.

The dedication of the Ridgewood Detectives proved successful in tracking down the suspect despite his efforts to avoid identification.

The Charges and Next Steps

The alleged burglar faces multiple charges stemming from the two-week crime spree:

  • Eight counts of Burglary
  • Theft
  • Two counts of Criminal Mischief

Following his arrest, Gomez was released from custody pending a future court appearance.

This case serves as a crucial reminder for all Ridgewood downtown businesses to remain vigilant.
