Glen Rock police announced that a Florida woman was taken into custody after she was found to be driving a stolen vehicle.
The incident unfolded just after 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. Officer Onove was on patrol, traveling north on Maple Avenue near the Ridgewood border, when a vehicle caught his attention. A quick check of the license plate revealed a shocking detail: the car was stolen.
Coordinated Effort Secures Suspect
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Officer Onove immediately initiated a motor vehicle stop. To ensure a safe and secure outcome, the Glen Rock officer coordinated with the Ridgewood Police Department.
The stop was successfully executed just over the Ridgewood border. Police confirmed that the driver, identified as 44-year-old Ashley Norsworthy of Fort Myers, Florida, was taken into custody without incident.
Charges Filed in Bergen County
Ms. Norsworthy now faces serious charges stemming from the early-morning stop.
She was formally charged with third-degree receiving a stolen vehicle. In addition to the felony charge, police also issued her a summons for driving without a license.
Following her arrest, Norsworthy was released with a mandated court date in Bergen County Superior Court.
