Ridgewood NJ, In an ironic twist, Councilman Jeffrey Voigt reported at the April 3 Village Council meeting on the proposed “Ridgewood Community Center Rules of Conduct.” As Council liaison to The Community Center Advisory Board, he was apparently part of the discussion in which the new Code of Conduct for the Community Center was developed. So here you have an elected official who on several occasions (not once, but multiple times) has called a man FATSO, even following him through a bank parking lot shouting this body-shaming insult. And he called a citizen a “douchebag” on the microphone at a Village Council meeting. He lost his temper with The Village Manager at a public meeting, telling her “I’m f’ing pissed,” when the Manager fulfilled a legal request by the Mayor for documents. And there are several, in fact many, other instances in which his conduct has been anything but exemplary. We can’t wait to see the rules that he comes up with for appropriate behavior in the Community Center, considering that his benchmark is so low.
“Don’t start cutting the trees down…. They are ALL THAT REMAINS of the good old Ridgewood. . Long gone are all of Ridgewood’s other unique and desirable qualities… gone is the premier education; gone is the right leaning sensibilities; gone is the attractive, robust and welcoming downtown; gone is the civility; gone is the non-partisan, common sense government. . All that remains are the “lovely trees” and the “tradition” of excellence… So please… Don’t cut down the trees… they are the only “real” things that remain in Ridgewood.”
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on March 19th patrol units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and North Maple Avenue. “We are not doing our kids any favors, agree with the comments here. Kids are empowered to walk across the street at any time, as long as they are in the crosswalk. I had a group of middle school kids leap out in front of me, i was doing between 15-20 mph on Franklin, and it was a challenge to stop on time. luckily, the car in back of me was also able to stop. those kids felt like they could just go at any time, as long as they were in crosswalk. They were not gauging how long it would take me to stop, and how far I was from the crosswalk before they decided to run out. We need to go back to the ‘look both ways’ mentality, it would be much safer for our pedestrians. Don’t even get me started on the commuters when the train arrives. In their dark clothes, they cross when they want to and where they want to, and are very hard to see in the dark. If it is raining, the visibility is even lower. They can see a car with headlights, but I can’t see them. It is a 2-way street. Both pedestrians and cars need to look out for each other. Changes need to be made in CBD with all of the new apartments and traffic flow, 15 mph is a good start. Lighted crosswalks also great. People wearing reflective tape on coats if they walk in the dark, amazing thing to have. Let’s all work together to make these changes, and more. “
