Seaside Heights NJ, file this under , aren’t you glad you joined Graydon Pool. The unofficial start to summer in Seaside Heights, took a turn for the worse this weekend, as a wave of fights, disturbances, and emergency incidents overwhelmed local law enforcement. According to Police Chief Thomas Boyd, a series of violent events stretching from late Friday night into early Saturday morning resulted in over 40 arrests and required the deployment of multiple prisoner transport teams.
The incidents occurred as crowds swelled along the popular boardwalk, marking a rowdy beginning to the beach town’s peak season.
“All night long police were dealing with disturbances and fights,” said Chief Boyd.
Timeline of the Mayhem
The first major call came in around 9:11 p.m., when a two-car crash at the Glendale Motel escalated into a physical confrontation. At the time, officers were already tied up responding to juvenile fights and disorderly persons incidents throughout the borough.

⛔ Curfews and Crackdowns
In response to the escalating violence and unruly behavior, Seaside Heights has imposed a strict curfew:
📍 No one under 18 is allowed on the streets or boardwalk from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Nearby Toms River also implemented a similar curfew, in an effort to restore order and discourage juvenile misconduct.
Local officials, including Assemblyman Paul Kanitra, praised the police department’s efforts, stating on Facebook that law enforcement is “cracking down” on lawlessness and working to maintain safety for residents and tourists alike.
Community Concerns and Ongoing Response
Throughout the night, police dealt with numerous reports of:
-
Disorderly conduct
-
Intoxicated beachgoers
-
Juvenile curfew violations
-
Beach gate jumpers
-
Water bottles being thrown at bystanders
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department provided crucial support as local resources were stretched thin across the town.
As summer begins, officials warn that increased enforcement and curfews will remain in effect to deter further violence.
