LANGLEY, VA – In a move sending shockwaves through the intelligence community, CIA Director John Ratcliffe has officially rescinded or revised 19 intelligence reports, some dating back to the Obama era. The agency’s unprecedented “housecleaning” comes after a high-level review found the documents were tainted by political bias, “poor spy tradecraft,” and an inappropriate focus on social agendas.
Among the most explosive findings was a retracted analysis suggesting that women who embrace traditional motherhood were at risk of becoming violent extremists.
“No Room for Bias”: The CIA’s Dramatic Repudiation
A senior CIA official confirmed that 17 of the reports have been permanently deleted from the agency’s systems, while two others were recalled for major revisions. The official emphasized that the purge was not about politics, but about upholding Intelligence Community Directive 203, which mandates strict objectivity.
“When we find instances where our tradecraft did not reach that high bar of impartiality, we must correct the record,” the official stated. “Under prior administrations, there was an inappropriate insertion of DEI issues… which undercut our mission.”
The Three Most “Egregious” Retracted Reports
To illustrate the depth of the bias, the CIA released three of the retracted documents. The agency described these as some of the most “egregious” examples of intelligence failing to meet professional standards.
1. Traditional Motherhood vs. Extremism
An October 2021 report titled “Women Advancing White Racially and Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremist Radicalization and Recruitment” drew fire for targeting domestic social roles.

3. LGBT Activism in the Middle East
A 2015 report from the Obama administration explored LGBT rights in North Africa.

The Issue: The report suggested the U.S. should support “gender studies” in Middle Eastern universities to influence societal tolerance.

The Controversy: It cited a Daily Beast article claiming life for gay individuals was “better” under the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood (a radical Islamist group) than under the subsequent government.
The Fallout: Personnel and Legal Battles
The senior official noted it is “not safe to assume” that the analysts who authored these biased reports are still with the agency. This internal purge coincides with a larger legal battle; last April, a federal judge blocked efforts by the CIA to terminate officers tied to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives, a ruling the Department of Justice is currently appealing.
