Young Hoe Koo had a hand – or, more accurately, a foot – in one of the biggest college football upsets this season last Saturday.
The Georgia Southern University freshman kicked a pair of extra points to help the underdog Eagles shock the University of Florida, 26-20, before a crowd of 82,459 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, a.k.a. “The Swamp”, in Gainesville, Fla.
Koo, who graduated from Ridgewood High School in June, also booted one kickoff for 50 yards and helped make the tackle during the ensuing return.
Georgia Southern (7-4) became the first Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team ever to defeat Florida (4-7), a perennial Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) power that suffered its first losing season since 1979.
Love those Ridgewood kickers helping out again.
