One retired FBI agent says Donald Trump’s claims of seeing Muslim celebrations following the attacks on 9-11 are absolutely plausible.
Jim Burkett was an assistant special agent in charge with the FBI’s office in Boston during 9-11 and afterward. He says during that time the office received tons of phone calls from people who feared more attacks and others reporting suspicious activity.
Many of those calls, said Burkett, came from concerned and angry Americans reporting Muslim’s celebrating over the destruction of the twin towers and damage to the Pentagon. The calls were logged, reports were made and there were “stacks and stacks” of them, he said.
Burkett says somebody in the office began labeling them “Happy Muslim Calls.” Most of the calls he said were deemed unimportant and the agency didn’t see fit to initiate investigations.

Plausible? Thats it?
There were a lot of rumors going around saying that Muslims knew not to go to work that day. I also neard that many Muslim residents moved out of the area that night. There were no names or fact checking but the rumors sounded good at the time.
Why can’t he just admit that it is possible that he saw the celebrations on the West Bank?
Key word here is plausible,which does not mean that it did or did not happen.
I don’t know about the not showing up rumor but there was definitely a group of people celebrating in the street in front of a mobile camera crew…about 15 people jumping up and down….it was in Paterson as I recall….
If there were any video proof Trump’s people would have found it by now. It just does not exist. He probably saw the West Bank.
His “collective memory” with supporters does not count.

Being truthful and honest really does matter. Most politicians (on both sides) are crappy at this and bend the truth in opportunistic ways. Trump is different altogether and seems to place no value on being accurate, precise, honest, etc.
John saw it in Jersey City with my own eyes , not thousands but far to many and Rudy was busy running from the towers that almost fell on him ,he was no position to see anything in Jersey City ,remember almost all of the 911 hijackers stayed in New Jersey

Like we’ve discussed before, it’s definitely clear that there were some celebrations by Muslims in NY and NJ on and after 9/11. If people aren’t willing to admit the evidence of “some” celebrations, they aren’t being honest. (And if my previous comments on this blog denied the existence of “any” celebrations at all, I take back and retract such comments.)
But is there evidence for “thousands and thousands” of Muslims celebrating, and were such celebrations caught on video? No, they definitely were not. Trump was exaggerating, and he hasn’t been willing to admit that.
Why does it matter? B/c there are practical implications if “thousands” of people were cheering and supporting terrorism, versus “tens to hundreds” cheering and supporting terrorism. The practical implications are related to the potential risk of future terrorism, how big a problem “extremist Islam” is, etc. etc. The bottom line is that being accurate and truthful and as precise and specific as possible matters. It matters for GWB and Iraq wmd claims, it matters for Obama and ISIS threat intelligence, and it matters for Trump and the things he claims. We should hold our politicians and elected officials to the highest standards possible and not forgive them for exaggerations or inaccuracies or bending the truth, even when we think they are right on the “substance”.
