Marlboro Township NJ, the parental rights movement has been rocked by a shocking controversy in suburban New Jersey, where a conservative school board member was allegedly targeted with threats so severe they required a judge’s intervention.
Danielle Bellomo, a mother of three and Marlboro Township Board of Education member, is at the center of a text message scandal that highlights the dangerous escalation of political disagreements in local government.
‘They Wanted Me Dead’: The Alleged Threatening Texts
Bellomo, a long-time community volunteer, told Fox News Digital that she was “stopped in her tracks” when she saw the alleged text message: “She can’t die soon enough.”
The messages, allegedly written by Mitesh Gandhi (the husband of a fellow school board member), included a group chat titled, “This B**** Needs to Die.” Another thread allegedly stated, “Mission is to just let her die by herself lol.”
These threats, which Bellomo believes stem from her outspoken conservative views on curriculum transparency and parental rights, have had a devastating impact on her family.
“My youngest keeps asking if I’m safe,” Bellomo shared, noting the emotional toll the harassment has taken on her children.
Judge Extends Protection, Criminal Charges Declined
This week, a Monmouth County judge took the serious step of extending a temporary protective order against Mitesh Gandhi. The protective order will remain in effect through January, when a full trial is scheduled to assess the ongoing risk to Bellomo.
However, despite the protective order, Bellomo expressed disappointment that the criminal justice system has yet to take action. The Marlboro Police Department referred the case to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, which ultimately declined to file criminal charges.
The “Nipplegate” Condemnation
This controversy follows an earlier viral incident, dubbed “Nipplegate,” where a former board candidate was allegedly shown typing a lewd comment about Bellomo during a public meeting. This drew condemnation from across the country, including from Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who called the comments “wrong and evil.”
Standing Firm for Parental Rights
Despite the alleged threats and harassment, Bellomo remains committed to her post. She ran for the board to enhance her children’s education and support local control and age-appropriate curriculum—positions that have made her a target in a divided political climate.
This case is seen by many in the parental-rights movement as a chilling example of the risks women and conservative voices face when stepping up for local public service.
“I absolutely want to continue,” Bellomo said. “This mission is too important.”
