Washington DC, House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the then GOP controlled chamber voted against illegal immigrant voting.
The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats’ major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the “For the People Act,” which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access to illegal aliens , as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws.
The measure however will have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants and indeed noncitizens as a whole are not legally able to participate in federal elections.
New Jersey’s Andy Kim (D-3), Josh Gottheimer (D-5), Tom Malinowski (D-7), and Mikie Sherrill (D-11) all voted for the measure assuring voting rights for Non-Citizens .
According to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey released Thursday it found a majority of likely U.S. voters agree with a recent warning from President Trump.“Right now we have people in Congress who hate our country,” Mr. Trump said during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference last week.The poll found that 51 percent of voters agree with the statement. A third disagree with the idea that lawmakers hate America, while 15 percent are undecided.

Gottheimer has to go in 2020. He is a huge disappointment.
Between that and the push to get 16 year old to vote the Dems are sure to win in 2020. Next they will want to lower the drinking age to 16.
James – while agree with your sentiments, the headline should be changed. The proposed Bill doesn’t allow non-citizens to vote. The actual language is
“Requires state election officials to automatically register to vote any eligible citizen.”
