>The Fly wonders if anyone else felt as though there were an unusually large number of BOE supporters present at the microphone during the public comment portion of last Monday night’s meeting. Do BOE members actually think that the public doesn’t recognize a stacked deck when they see one?
The absence of negative comments during 5/14’s meeting should not be viewed as public acceptance of Dr. Brooks’ appointment as our new Public Schools Superintendent. Nor should it signify parental acceptance of TERC. The BOE’s intimidation strategy worked this time, but the REAL public will be heard at future meetings, like it or not.
>”The BOE’s intimidation strategy worked this time, but the REAL public will be heard at future meetings, like it or not.”
Well, it didn’t work on yours truly.
As one of the two moms that spoke openly against TERC Investigations on the night of the superintendent’s appointment, I thought the timing of everything was just right.
The point was clear that there’s a constant undercurrent which is not going to go away.
The infusion of the Chernobyl project was just fine. I think I can speak for nearly all of us that we are proud of our schools and our students.
And those excrutiatingly young students should be commended for a job well done. I was practically moved to tears by that presentation, and by how young those kids are.
The night was invigorating. We have lots to be proud of here in our town, and we must continue to hold our district to the highest standards.
Therefore, no need to be intimidated. Quite the opposite. New resolve.
>”the REAL public will be heard at future meetings” I sure hope so!!
>The downfall of a BOE is to stop listening to parents. Retribution will be swift come election day.
>I dont want to hear any off it ,I have heard it all before let your VOTE do the talking and vote out the Dumb Dumb’s and the Dumb Dumb Math
>Any reason why the BOE went ahead with a 5 year contract with someone of dubious background? Most car leases aren’t that long.
>”Dumb Dumb Math” — funny!
I’ve heard CMP2 (the middle school math) referred to as Rainforest Math.
>If you’ve signed the anti-TERC petition, MAKE SURE YOUR SPO– USE SIGNS IT TOO. The number of signatures is growing rapidly (I think 117) I think that as most people become aware of TERC, the resistance to its full implementation will grow.
Are you listening BOE??
Can you hear us now?
>VOTE THEM OUT PERIOD!
>email the peition to friends and neighbors to make them aware of what is going on their community

The voice of concerned parents is growing. Even people whose children graduated from the district or never had children in the district are signing. The success or failure of any school district effects all residents.
>After you sign the petition, email it to your friends. If you’ve already signed the petition, think about who else you can email it to. There is an easy way to do this if you scroll to the very bottom of the petition.
>pretty sneaky
the appointment of an unpopular principal
at travell
what’s next
>stop talking and VOTE these people out
>You can’t vote out a group who uses tax payer funds to get themselves relected year after year. The local ABC group in town is a creation of the BOE. (And please don’t tell me it wasn’t – I was there at the first meeting when it was founded). Then there is the taxpayer funded mailings that go out to the district – those “happy letters” that tell the voters in the district that everything is just dandy with the schools. Please, these people are so entrenched it would take explosives to remove them.
>All it takes some good challenger candidates and motivated voters to remove them.
>Two BOE seats are up for re-election next year: Sheila Brogan and Mark Bombace. Who will step up to the plate to bring the BOE’s reign of error to an end??
Brogan is the savviest member of the BOE, with a carefully cultivated facade. It was she who, along with her acolyte Lenhard, visited the new superintendent’s school district. Ms. Brogan is the real power in the BOE, and the real driver behind the choice of the new superintendent.
Nobody this year bothered to run against Lenhard, who had the blessing of the BOE (RPS enews promoted her as early as Nov 2006) and never saw a budget she didn’t like, or Vallerini, whose mistakes are just plain embarassing.
>Perhaps Brogan is just easily charmed.
