THE RECORD
Jack Tancos, the director of Ridgewood’s Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch since 2008, has tendered his resignation.
Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn confirmed receiving Tancos’ letter Thursday.
Tancos will remain in his current role through Dec. 5, when he will reassume his role as a public safety dispatcher.
“We are grateful for his years of service in the Center which spans over twenty years,” said Roberta Sonenfeld, Ridgewood’s Village Manager, in a statement.

I wonder what happen there ?
who will get that job? I know Rex Al lackey is looking to move up.
Something tells me there’s more to this story, and probably not what the taxpayers want to know. This man has supervised some of the most spectacular failures of an allegedly professional operation. The only thing that comes out of that place with any consistency, is excuses, double talk and incompetence. The risks to public safety have gone largely unnoticed, thanks to what amounts to an elaborate shell game played by the director. This is what happens when you entrust the safety of first responders, as well as the taxpayers to an independent agency with little actual oversight. Good riddance Jack, but thanks for setting the bar so low for your replacement.
SO he will no longer be director but, he’s gonna stay on as a dispatcher?? That’s Odd
Now is the time to re-evaluate the cost and look at what the county has to offer.
I also find it odd you would keep a manager on as staff. Sometime that could be counterintuitive.
To much politics at the county level. Towns have no control. Once you go there you give up your radio frequency ( Sign it over to the county) And you will never get it back. They do not dispatch for DPW or Single Dept so you still have to maintain a base station. It doesn’t hurt to check it out but the VM and council should read the fine print because the devil is in the details. Seeing how Ridgewood government has worked in the past I have no faith in them. I wouldn’t cheap out on emergency radio communication for the sake of money. You get what you pay for.
The county is not exactly a perfect alternative either. Many of the towns sold on THAT particular bill of goods have a serious case of buyer’s remorse. What’s interesting here is how many times directors of that agency have left their post. The architect himself fled under cover of darkness and relocated to Idaho. His successor didn’t last long either. A fine example of the poor management took place last summer. The air conditioning in the facility was on the fritz. Instead of forcing it to be repaired immediately, the director just told his people they could work in shorts and t-shirts. Then there was the mass exodus, where NINE dispatchers quit in less than a month. Jack didn’t want the word slipping out that his center was being staffed at night by TWO operators for 190,000 residents. Smoke and mirrors folks. This is just day to day nonsense, and it pales in comparison to the blatant failures during major events like the Halloween storm of a few years ago, and the 2 hurricanes. Jack may have some fancy initials after his name, but I wouldn’t trust that clown to run a lemonade stand.
I would only ask that our Council and Village Manage do their homework on this before they make a commitment. Let not have another underpass fiasco.
I’m not sure VoR funds the majority share of this black hole. There’s more to this than him just resigning. The NWBCD is a black hole of incompetence and taxpayer abuse.
I hope they take his siren and red light equipped Village owned car away from him.
The digital radio upgrade he pushed is turning out to be an expensive fiasco. Will it ever work correctly? Did we get any of the promised grant money?
This is all tied to bergen county and the parking deck. Hello?
???
haters gonna hate!
#12 is right. You give us NWCD and we will build you a parking garage.
There only one thing we have to pay for it. Some deal.
What that all about? Sound like D is back
Will Bob Greenlaw be returning to run the show?
Come home BOB all is forgiven.
