Ridgewood NJ, A unannounced drug sweep of Ridgewood High School was conducted on Wednesday, 11/12. Ridgewood PD uniformed and plain clothes officers along with members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit were observed entering the East Ridgewood Avenue side of the High School building shortly before 0900 hours.
Really ?
How about canvassing Van Neste park after dusk….
Van Neste Park??? Seriously?????
i would hardly classify that as unannounced…they said they’d be doing this like 2 or 3 weeks ago…
Isn’t this the training execrcise that had been announced a week or so ago?
Neither the date nor time the sweep was to be conducted were made public.
Maybe not date and time, but they did announce that it would be taking place. Anyone caught in possession of drugs must be some special kind of stupid.
#5…kind of the point of random checks…certainly had enough heads up that something was coming in the next few weeks though…
If you obey the law and go to school to learn then there’s nothing to worry about.
If you’re a bad actor, you’re going to get caught.
It was not a drug sweep….
It was to:
“address concerns regarding possible disruptions to the educational process that may have been occurring clandestinely.”

Re: Lock Down Drill
November 12, 2014
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
With the safety and well-being of all students and staff as a paramount concern, the Bergen County Canine Unit and Ridgewood Police Department came to Ridgewood High School this morning as part of our required lock down drill scenarios that take place on a monthly basis. The students were secured in their classrooms and did not come in contact with the canines or police. The police were here for thirty minutes and the delivery of instruction was not impacted.
The intent of the scent dogs was to ensure the safety and security of all members of our school community. This measure not only helped enhance security, but also addressed concerns regarding possible disruptions to the educational process that may have been occurring clandestinely. This proactive and preventative measure was implemented to ensure the safety of all Ridgewood High School students.
Respectfully,
Thomas A. Gorman, Ed.D.
what does that even mean?
There are no drugs in RHS…. hence no need for “drug sweeps”
Understand now ?
Didn’t you learn anything in Obfuscation 101 ?
im curious why anyone cares about this
some people still care about there kids , get it?
Do not forget the back of Starbucks.
They’re caring about their kids over there. See what I did, there?
I have no problem with the dogs, if they are snooping for guns or explosives. But to waste this kind of time and money just to flush out some weed from Jimmy’s locker…
funny how people scream about the drug problem but mock the authorities anytime something is done about it.
I don’t think it’s the same people. The people doing the mocking are our local progressives who smoke the stuff themselves.
Bravo #17! I agree with you completely. And yes, #16, they SHOULD flush some weed from Jimmy’s locker. I guess you are a new age parent who smokes pot with his kids hoping that makes you cool. It doesn’t. It makes you a crappy parent.
The BOE announces that a “locker check” (aka: drug sweep) will be conducted at some point in the future, and then when it actually happens, the RHS principal denies it was a drug sweep?
Do they really think the public is that stupid?
yes… yes they do
If you like your insurance you can keep it!
The “scent dogs” don’t have to wander too far off school grounds to detect lots of contraband. Anyone who drives through town during the day gets an eyeful of use and commerce daily.
0900…….too funny…..a Boyd-ism.
