The emergency call came in just before 4:00 AM, reporting multiple vehicles on fire on Jordan Road. The situation was immediately critical, as the fully involved vehicles were dangerously close to the home.

Aggressive Attack Saves the Structure

Upon the arrival of Chief 30 and 302, the threat to the residence was confirmed: two cars were engulfed in flames right next to the house. The quick thinking and rapid deployment of resources were key to saving the structure:

  1. Engine 32, the first suppression unit on the scene, immediately stretched a hose line and began a defensive attack, using its onboard water supply to protect the house and halt the fire’s spread.
  2. Engine 33 arrived next, securing a water source by connecting to a nearby hydrant and feeding water to Engine 32.
  3. Working together, both crews executed an aggressive interior attack, rapidly extinguishing both burning vehicles before the intense heat and flames could breach the structure.

Structure Check and Investigation

With the car fires knocked down, Tower 31 arrived and its crew was assigned the crucial task of checking the inside of the home for any hidden fire extension. Once the home was confirmed clear, crews set up ventilation fans to clear the residual smoke that had drifted into the structure.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported to residents or firefighters during the intense morning operation. Fire crews operated on the scene for approximately 1.5 hours before turning the area over to the New Milford Police Department for investigation into the cause of the fire.
