Downtown Ridgewood simply oozes Americana. Its wide, tree-lined streets and avenues unfurl before stylish shops whose buildings date back to the grand styles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For me, the architectural centerpiece of the downtown historic district is the splendid 1916 Mission-style train station. It’s best appreciated when seen, just as the village’s restaurants are best admired when visited.
