FAIR LAWN, NJ — A Monday morning commute turned into a terrifying scene on Saddle River Road when a two-vehicle “T-bone” collision left two SUVs heavily damaged, but miraculously, no one seriously injured.

The accident occurred on January 12, 2026, near the intersection of Morlot Avenue, a busy artery for Bergen County commuters.

A Close Call for a Local Family

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before noon to find a late-model Honda Odyssey and an older Honda CR-V with significant impact damage.

The most harrowing detail of the crash involved the occupants of the Odyssey: a mother and her infant child. Despite the force of the T-bone impact—a type of collision often associated with high injury rates—both the mother and baby were assessed at the scene and found to be uninjured.

The Aftermath: Heavy Damage and Investigation

The collision was severe enough to disable both vehicles. Debris littered the roadway near Morlot Avenue as Fair Lawn Police redirected traffic to ensure the safety of the scene.

  • Vehicle Status: Both Honda vehicles sustained “heavy damage” to their frames and side panels.

  • Recovery: A flatbed tow truck was required to remove both SUVs from the roadway.

  • Police Action: The Fair Lawn Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash to determine if speed or a failure to yield at the intersection played a role.

Safety Reminder for Bergen County Drivers

The intersection of Saddle River Road and Morlot Avenue is known for high traffic volume. Local authorities remind drivers to remain vigilant, especially during midday hours when visibility and traffic patterns can shift quickly.

Safety Tip: Always ensure infant car seats are properly installed and “clicked in.” In side-impact collisions like this one, a correctly secured seat is often the difference between life and death.
