Paramus NJ, in a short Facebook post the iconic Fireplace calls it quits :
Fireplace Family,
We are saddened to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to close our doors tomorrow at 4 pm. Over the past months, we have had an increasingly difficult time covering the costs of running our restaurant. We would like to say thank you to all of our loyal patrons who have supported us during our 65 years. It has been an honor serving you.
Hours tomorrow 11:30am-4 pm.

  1. Gonna miss those burgers.
During the entire COVID crisis the only insulated group was the government worker. They didn’t miss a paycheck and the taxpayers funded bonuses. Now they will piss and moan about having to return to work.

  2. Fries with gravy !

  3. Their parking lot was sparsely filled on a regular basis way before the pandemic even started. Every time I passed by I would remark to my spouse that I didn’t think they’d be around much longer. The rustic interior was just not appealing to most millennials. Good food, but the dining experience was not what is popular among those with lots of disposable income.

  8. A throwback in time. Not kept current. That’s what killed them.

  11. Ate there in the 60’s. My Dad worked in Paramus. I remember they had big white Bermuda onions for the burgers. I moved from NJ back to Pa in 1966, but I surf the web for old memories. Sorry you closed.
