Englewood NJ, exciting changes are underway at Flat Rock Brook Nature Preserve in Englewood, NJ! As part of Phase 1 of the Jones Road Streamside Restoration Project, a brand-new 8-foot-wide ADA-accessible bridge has been installed, along with upgraded pathways and ramps.
Enhancing Accessibility & Outdoor Learning
The newly installed 8’ x 35’ bridge was constructed off-site and placed in one seamless installation over the brook. This addition enhances accessibility for visitors of all abilities and marks a significant milestone in the preserve’s ongoing improvements.
Thanks to funding from Veolia North America, along with support from the City of Englewood, the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund, and New Jersey’s Green Acres Program, this transformation is on track for a Summer 2025 reopening.
What’s Next?
With Phase 1 nearing completion, Phase 2 is set to begin in Summer 2026, bringing:
✔ Outdoor classrooms for hands-on learning
✔ An updated comfort station for visitor convenience
✔ A nature-based playground and picnic groves
Support the Project
Community members and businesses can still be part of this exciting transformation! Naming rights and sponsorship opportunities are available. To learn more, visit flatrockbrook.org/jones-rd.
This is a huge win for Englewood and nature lovers alike—bringing enhanced accessibility, sustainability, and outdoor education to the heart of Bergen County!
