New Jersey is clearly moving to join the many states that have legalized recreational marijuana – eight in just the last five years.
We could do this in two ways: either by making pot a legal substance and taxing it, or by permitting people to possess a small amount, instead of arresting them.
So now that a renewed effort is underway to reform our failed marijuana policy, time to revive that critical debate: legalization, or decriminalization?

Won’t happen until Christie is gone he wouldn’t even approve use for medical purposes
Are there that many people who are ill in NJ and need medication?
.
…Oh right… medical marijuana was always a scam.
At least legalization will end that farce.
it’s time,
Yes as a matter of fact there are, and major university hospitals could expand research if the government would legalize. It should be legalized and regulated same as alcohol.
I did my fair share in my youth, and I’m not really concerned about it becoming completely legal, but I have to wonder about a society where so many grown adults want to escape from sobriety and get stoned on a regular basis. Is sober life really that awful that you need mind-altering diversions?
They are a bunch of losers 7:31 – guess it makes reading their facebook profile more palatable
Ha, funny. NJ is the state that tried to ban Tesla to protect brick & mortar car dealers, has issues with the sharing economy like uber and AirBnB, and is the only state in the land that still bans the sale of home baked goods which may also be linked to the drug laws?!?! Trenton is only for the unions and select friends, they don’t care about the rest of us in the private sector.
Do it! It is wonderful for people with many medical problems AND as an alternative to having a drink.
The bars will hate it, Uber will love it.
Of course the Federal Gov’t could be a problem.
Marijuana is a gateway drug.
Show me one heroin addict that didn’t begin with marijuana.
7:43 – That’s a ridiculous argument! How many people used marijuana who didn’t become heroin addicts? Show me one heroin addict that didn’t begin with alcohol? Show me one heroin addict that didn’t begin with drinking a soft drink?
How many alcoholics started with alcohol?
7:43- There are plenty of heroin addicts that never smoked a bone in their lives. It all started with a prescription for oxy from some quack on Purdue’s payroll.
3:27pm .. you must be delusional….
5:44 Was that supposed to be an informed comment on the discussion of drug addiction? Have we lost the ability to reasonably debate a topic?
