Upper Saddle River NJ, the Upper Saddle River Fire Department (USRFD) responded to a significant structure fire on Lake Road, quickly escalating to a four-alarm incident due to challenging conditions and limited water access. With mutual aid from the Ramsey Fire Department (RFD) and numerous neighboring fire departments, the blaze was successfully brought under control with no injuries reported.
Intense Fire Conditions Met by Coordinated Response
When the first units arrived at the scene, they were confronted with heavy fire conditions that required immediate deployment of large-diameter hose lines to combat the blaze.
Ramsey Fire Department’s Tower Ladder 441 played a critical role, taking a strategic position at the front of the structure and utilizing its master stream to suppress the flames.
Water Supply Challenges: Tankers and Draft Sites Deployed
Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, the fire response team coordinated with multiple mutual aid departments to bring in water tankers, ensuring a consistent supply. Additionally, a draft site was set up to assist in water relay operations.
Four-Alarm Response and Ongoing Investigation
As the incident escalated, four alarms were struck, prompting even more departments to assist on the scene and provide coverage for other firehouses. The quick and efficient coordination between departments played a vital role in containing the fire and preventing further damage.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Community and Department Collaboration Praised
The Upper Saddle River Fire Department expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all participating departments, especially Ramsey FD, whose support was crucial in this multi-alarm event. Their mutual aid partnerships and shared training made a significant difference in managing the complex incident.
