Franklin Lakes Man Struck by Lightning While Golfing at Ballyowen in Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 28-year-old man from Franklin Lakes was hospitalized after being struck by lightning while golfing at Ballyowen Golf Club on July 8, according to the Hardyston Police Department.

The incident occurred at 1:53 p.m., when officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a golfer had been hit by lightning on the course. Upon arrival, police discovered the man lying on the ground and administered immediate aid.

🚁 Airlifted for Emergency Treatment

Emergency medical personnel from Atlantic Health and St. Clare’s soon arrived and assisted with care. The victim was then airlifted by medevac to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for further evaluation and treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
