RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Get your brushes ready! Local artist Eric Santoli is bringing the tranquil beauty of outdoor painting to living rooms across the country. His upcoming TV series, Eric En Plein Air, is set to debut nationwide on public television and the PBS app in just a few months.

While Season 1 is locked and loaded, the journey is just beginning. “It has been quite a journey, and now we are already preparing for Season 2!” Santoli shared. “I’m thankful to the Ridgewood community for supporting my work and I’m excited to share more soon.”

More Than Just a Canvas: Art Meets Conservation

Eric En Plein Air isn’t your typical “how-to” art show. While each episode dives deep into artistic techniques, materials, and the core principles of painting, it carries a much deeper mission: environmental stewardship.

The series highlights:

  • Lesser-known landscapes: Discovering hidden gems in nature.

  • Wildlife preservation: Learning how to appreciate and protect the environments we paint.

  • Therapeutic creativity: Using art as a tool for mental well-being and nature engagement.

“Painting outdoors is a very therapeutic way to engage with nature,” says Santoli. “Anyone can do it with a little encouragement and guidance.”

A Decade of Dedication

Santoli is a seasoned educator who has spent nearly ten years teaching hundreds of students the nuances of fine art. His path to PBS was paved by a successful appearance on the public television favorite J Schwanke’s Life in Bloom. That experience forged a vital connection with American Public Television, sparking the development of his own dedicated program.

With a letter of support from KQED, Santoli is currently moving full steam ahead on the next phase of production.

How to Watch and Support

The pilot episode, filmed right here in Northern New Jersey, offers a stunning glimpse into the series’ serene aesthetic and educational value.
