Englewood NJ, The Elisabeth Morrow School (EMS) has officially announced the launch of New Jersey’s Inaugural Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summer Institute. This premier intensive, running from June 22–26, 2026, offers students in rising grades 3–9 a rare opportunity to learn from the brightest minds at Stanford, MIT, and the Ivy League.
As the first school in the region to hold the Middle States Association RAIL Endorsement (Responsible AI in Learning), EMS is setting a new gold standard for AI literacy, safety, and ethics in early education.
Why This Isn’t Just Another STEM Camp
While many programs offer “coding,” the EMS AI Summer Institute focuses on AI leadership. Under the guidance of elite graduate scholars, students will transition from passive tech users to intentional, ethical creators.
“As AI rapidly reshapes industries and careers, we recognize that simply keeping pace is not enough—we must empower our students to lead,” says Head of School Marek Beck, Ph.D.
Two Specialized Tracks for Young Innovators
The institute features a project-based curriculum tailored to specific age groups:
| Program | Grade Level | Focus & Tools |
| AI Creators | Grades 3–5 | Foundations via Scratch, MIT RAISE, and Google’s Teachable Machine. Students build interactive stories and explore computer vision. |
| AI Pioneers | Grades 6–9 | Professional-grade Python programming, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and web app deployment. |
Solving Real-World Problems
Beyond the screen, students will participate in a signature design sprint. They will apply AI to tackle global challenges such as:
-
Public Health: Developing tools to combat pandemics.
-
Mobility: Engineering the logic behind self-driving cars.
-
Ethics: Deep dives into the social responsibility and bias inherent in modern algorithms.
