A general alarm fire raced through the Smith Brothers Dining Saloon at 51 Broad Street this morning.
All career and volunteer Ridgewood Fire Department personnel were called to the scene. Volunteer firefighters from the Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, and Wyckoff fire departments assisted in bringing the fire under control.
The dining saloon is closed indefinitely.

>sooo umm…ur all wrong. they arent planning on selling it. they havent even thought about it yet. the fire started from one of the tvs because it was retarded. the entire bar room burned along with all the tables and chairs.

>The place was a very well known hang out of some very distinguished professional drinkers. The food was terrible and the staff was iffy. If they could clear out some of the regulars maybe they would have a chance at being a worthwhile hang out. Bummer about the fire all the way around and the overall hope is that they re-open- just stop serving food…
