Glen Rock NJ, a driver narrowly avoided serious injury or worse when a high-voltage power line struck her vehicle’s windshield late Thursday morning on Cornwall Road in Glen Rock. The dramatic incident occurred after a fallen tree dislodged the power line, sending it crashing onto the car just seconds later.
Driver Unharmed After High-Voltage Scare
According to Glen Rock Police, the visibly shaken driver miraculously emerged unharmed and was able to safely move her vehicle from the scene. A responding officer quickly documented the situation and completed an accident report.
Power Outage Impacts Hundreds
The incident, which temporarily shut down the area, also triggered a significant power outage. According to the PSE&G Outage Map, 358 customers lost electricity due to the downed lines.
PSE&G Electric Division crews were dispatched to the scene and were on standby to begin repairs. Work could begin only after the fallen tree was removed from the overhead wires and roadway.
Safety Reminder: Stay Away from Downed Power Lines
Officials reminded the public that downed power lines are extremely dangerous, and anyone encountering one should stay far away and contact emergency services immediately.
