Glen Rock and Ridgewood officials met on Nov. 13 to discuss additional studies of a proposed shared public works complex on Prospect Avenue.
At a Glen Rock Borough Council meeting that evening, Mayor John van Keuren said that he and Borough Administrator Lenora Benjamin met with their Ridgewood counterparts, to explore the next steps in the proposed development of municipal garage facilities serving both towns at the Ridgewood-owned site.
He referred to environmental impact and “capacity” studies that Ridgewood officials have estimated will cost approximately $60,000. The apparent decision by both towns to proceed follows preliminary feasibility and “truck turning” analyses already performed at the site by Conklin Associates, a Ramsey-based engineering firm.
The municipalities had split the $5,250 cost of those studies, and presumably will co-fund the subsequent workups, although van Keuren had not confirmed that as of the Glen Rock Gazette’s press deadline this week. Neither has it been disclosed what share of total costs would be borne by Glen Rock should the project proceed to completion.
At the council meeting, Glen Rock resident Jim Seaton raised questions about the suitability of the Prospect Avenue location, which is adjacent to Ridgewood’s water treatment facility

I completely agree with the Glen Rock resident quoted in this article. Construction of a facility with a HUGE impervious footprint in an area known to flood is a big mistake. Didn’t we learn anything when we spent over $12 million to fix Village Hall only to have it flooded within 30 days of the ribbon cutting ceremony?
Stop this insanity now. Voters will remember those who continue to push this stupid agenda item when the next election arrives.
WE DO NOT WANT MORE TRUCK TRAFFIC IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Why no article in the Ridgewood News about the added expense? Someone get paid off?
Hey van Keuren: you must be drinking the same Kool Aid as Aronsohn! What a lame ass, “the dog ate my homework” excuse; “. . . the State is increasing pressure on counties and municipalities to explore shared services arrangements . . . ”
The State is not forcing you do make stupid decisions, wasting tax payers’ money in the process. Get real man! Building a garage in a flood zone is absurd.
Hey Glen Rock and Ridgewood residents this is BIG AL THE DEVELOPERS FRIEND AKA DEPUTY MAYOR ALBERT PUCCIARELL pet project. He is the one pushing for this. Don’t forget his lawyer friend need a right a way down there from the village to put a senior housing project in. You know the old saying. ” On hand washes the other”
this is all bull shit. talk about a scam. who the hell is behind this.maybe we should put the council and mayor at this site , so they can smell shit all day, hey they make a lot of it them self.
There is SO MUCH TRAFFIC going in and out of thee already, all day long., how fair is this to the residents on the streets leading in to it???? it is nowhere near the Deputy Mayors house so I guess it does not matter.
that place can not be good for any one to work at.at times you can take the smell.
