HACKENSACK, NJ — The Hackensack Police Department has announced the arrest of Agustin Fuentes-Sanchez, 55, of Rochelle Park, on assault and weapons charges following a violent altercation on Essex Street near Porter Avenue on July 25, 2025.
🚨 What Happened on Essex Street?
According to police, a 49-year-old pedestrian was crossing Porter Avenue in front of a vehicle exiting onto Essex Street, causing the car to stop abruptly.
A dispute broke out between the pedestrian and Fuentes-Sanchez, who was a passenger in the vehicle. After the pedestrian allegedly kicked the vehicle, Fuentes-Sanchez pulled out a screwdriver and assaulted the victim, causing a minor puncture wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
⚖️ Charges Filed Against Agustin Fuentes-Sanchez
Police arrested Fuentes-Sanchez without incident, recovering the screwdriver as evidence. He faces multiple charges:

He was processed and transported to Bergen County Jail on a complaint warrant, awaiting an initial appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Authorities remind the public that all charges are accusations, and Fuentes-Sanchez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
