Ridgewood NJ, if you’ve ever found yourself questioning the choices of homebuyers on HGTV’s House Hunters, you’re not alone. Now, North Jersey residents will have a local episode to critique!
‘House Hunters’ Comes to Bergen County
Season 259, Episode 8 of the popular home-buying show, titled “Roots in Ridgewood,” will follow Mindee and Matthew, a couple with two young kids, as they search for the perfect home in Ridgewood.
With its top-rated schools, charming downtown, and commuter-friendly location, Ridgewood is a sought-after suburb—making it an exciting setting for an episode of House Hunters.
Dueling Home Preferences: Charm vs. Modern
Like many homebuyers, Mindee and Matthew have differing visions for their dream home:
-
Mindee wants a house with character and a deluxe kitchen—a warm, inviting space where the family can gather.
-
Matthew prefers something modern, updated, and move-in ready, with minimal renovation projects.
According to the episode’s description, “To get in the neighborhood they want, concessions may have to be made.”

That was yesterday, April 2
What was the budget ?
$1.3 or something, one house (complete makeover) by firestation, new house in fairlawn and third fixer upper in ridgewood for under $1mm. You can watch on line to see what they picked.
What a joke. They’re house flippers. They actually spent less money on the house they bought ($980k in 2024) than the one they were in at the beginning of the episode ($1.175mil in 2022). AND, they sold their old home two months after their House Hunters purchase for $1.8mil! That’s $625k gross profit! Even after expenses, they still had a tidy profit to spend on their new home ($980k purchase + $300k in improvements stated). Seriously, House Hunters needs to change their name if they continue to scam views this way.
Wait a minute. Are you telling me something you saw on TV was complete and total BS?
