Hard Questions….

  1. >again…from his previous district…did they speak to this group?

Many of us choose to live in POB because of the high quality of education that our school district provides. We expected and believed that POB gave our children the tools needed to exceed the minimum standards set by the State. The recent 5th grade Math Assessment scores have shown POB to be ranked 43rd out of 53 Nassau County school districts as to a percentage of children that met or exceeded New York State standards. POB ranked 47th out of 53 Nassau County school districts as to a percentage of students that exceeded those standards.

  2. >Why are there 3 different programs? Doesn’t the district decide? If not, then who, each principal??

  3. >Mrs. Regina Botsford is directly responsible. Her title is Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment. She reports to the Superintendent, Dr. Paul Arilotta. He, of course, is answerable to the BOE elected officials.

  4. >I can’t beleive that they have such a problem with the math programs in our schools. My children graduated from Ridgewood School system many years ago and all have graduated college. My one childs math skills is deplorable and I now wonder if this is the fault of our system.
The BOE seems to have problems making any decision about anything.
