Edgewater NJ,  Hip-hop artist and podcast host Joe Budden is facing a lawsuit filed by two Bergen County condominium owners who allege he disrupted their lives through excessive noise, harassment, and an alleged indecent exposure incident at the upscale Edgewater Glass House Condominium.

The suit, filed on March 19 in Bergen County Superior Court, was brought by John and Yuliya Aksoy, who reside directly above Budden’s unit. Named in the complaint are Budden, the Joe Budden Network, the condo association, and additional parties.

According to the Aksoys, the issues stem from Budden’s unauthorized commercial use of a residential unit as a podcast studio, which has allegedly resulted in persistent noise disturbances, harassment, and rule violations within the luxury complex.

Allegations Against Joe Budden

The lawsuit outlines a series of claims against Budden and his associates, including:

  • Disruptive Podcast Operations: The plaintiffs say Budden began operating The Joe Budden Podcast in 2022 out of his condo unit, causing excessive noise, including simulated gunshots, sirens, and foghorns during a recording on October 19, 2023.

  • Harassment and Retaliation: The Aksoys claim they were targeted after voicing complaints to the Edgewater Glass House Condominium Association, with Budden and a board member allegedly conspiring to make false claims of racial misconduct against Yuliya Aksoy.

  • Secondhand Smoke Exposure: The lawsuit alleges that Budden and others smoked cannabis in common areas and near the plaintiffs’ terrace, which they say contributed to health issues for their 6-year-old daughter.

  • Attempted Entry While Nude: On December 4, 2023, Budden allegedly tried to enter the Aksoys’ unit while naked, terrifying the family. The incident was captured on a Ring camera and later leaked to TMZ, prompting further legal action.

Budden’s Response

In response, Joe Budden’s attorney, Nima Ameri, stated that the lawsuit is “frivolous” and misrepresents events that had already been resolved in court.

“The court made very specific findings that in fact exonerated Mr. Budden… Yet these individuals chose to file what we think is frivolous pleadings more centered around a media campaign than meritorious legal positions,” Ameri said.

Budden has also filed for a restraining order to prevent further distribution of the Ring camera images, which his team claims were distorted and intended to harm his public image. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for May 2.

Condo Controversy and Legal Fallout

The Aksoys, who purchased and combined two units in 2019 to raise their three children, allege that the condo association has failed to enforce community rules and has retaliated against them for raising concerns.

Their attorney, Thomas Mirigliano, responded to Budden’s legal filings, criticizing them for being legally unsupported and misleading. He also requested clarification on whether the plaintiffs are allowed to speak publicly about the lawsuit.

“It is essential that all parties understand the precise contours of the Order to avoid unnecessary disputes or inadvertent noncompliance,” Mirigliano wrote to the court.

What’s Next?

As this legal battle unfolds, both the public and legal observers will be watching the May 2 hearing for developments. The lawsuit has raised broader questions about noise ordinances, residential property use, and community enforcement in luxury condominium living.

  1. I’d never live in a condo.
These people have zero respect for their neighbors
Imagine someone cooking falafel on their deck every night or the smell of spicy food wafting into your home every day
