Ho-Ho-Kus , NJ – Exciting improvements are well underway at the beloved West Saddle River Road 15 Acres Trail! Local crews are working hard to enhance accessibility and the overall visitor experience at this popular slice of Bergen County open space.
Thanks to the hard work of the local Shade Tree and Beautification Committee and critical funding from a Bergen County Open Space matching grant, this cherished walking path is getting a major facelift.
What’s New at the 15 Acres Trail?
Visitors will soon notice significant and welcome changes designed to make the trail more accessible and user-friendly:
- Dedicated Parking Area: A key component of the beautification effort is the construction of a new gravel parking area. This will provide designated, organized parking, eliminating confusion and ensuring safer access for all trail users. Landscaping around the area will follow to ensure it blends seamlessly with the natural environment.
- Trail Cleanup & Enhancement: Crews are continuing thorough cleanup efforts along the walking path, ensuring a pristine and enjoyable route for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
- New Trailhead Signage: A welcoming new trailhead sign is on its way! This sign will feature a detailed map of the walking path, making navigation easy and welcoming for first-time visitors and regulars alike.
The Shade Tree and Beautification Committee spearheaded this initiative, highlighting the power of local committees working in partnership with county-level funding. This project is a shining example of how Bergen County’s Open Space Trust Fund is invested directly back into community parks and trails.
The project is moving along quickly, and we encourage residents to stay tuned for the final completion announcement and a potential ribbon-cutting ceremony! Get ready to explore a beautifully enhanced local treasure.
