HO-HO-KUS, NJ – Ho-Ho-Kus Troop 54 proudly recognized six Scouts who achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting America. This milestone represents years of dedication, leadership, and community service, making it one of the most respected youth achievements in the nation.

The newly honored Eagle Scouts are:

  • Mikael Ferrales

  • Jack Mastandrea

  • Austin Hintz

  • Zachary Karoleski

  • Luke Hekemian

  • Thomas Tynan

🦅 What It Takes to Become an Eagle Scout

Earning the Eagle Scout rank is no easy task. Each Scout must:
âś… Complete at least 21 merit badges
âś… Demonstrate continuing leadership within their troop
âś… Participate in numerous campouts and outdoor activities
âś… Mentor younger Scouts, helping guide the next generation
âś… Plan, organize, and lead a major community service project, often requiring hundreds of volunteer hours

Only 6% of Scouts nationwide achieve this rank, highlighting the exceptional commitment of these six young men.

🏕 A Rich Legacy of Scouting in Ho-Ho-Kus

Since its founding in 1927, Troop 54 has produced an impressive 161 Eagle Scouts, reflecting the strength of Scouting traditions in the community.

This summer, Troop 54 is continuing its adventurous spirit:

  • 21 Scouts are attending Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco

  • 10 Scouts are exploring Floodwood Reservation

  • 7 Scouts are embarking on a five-week trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico

Looking ahead, Troop 54 will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027, with exciting events and commemorations already in the works.

🎉 Congratulations and Best Wishes
