Christmas & New Year’s Service Guide
Schedules will shift significantly over the next two weeks. Here is the “cheat sheet” for your commute:
Christmas Eve & Day

Wed. Dec 24: “Early Getaway” service. Extra trains will depart New York Penn, Newark, and Hoboken starting in the early afternoon for those leaving work early.

Thu. Dec 25: Weekend/Major Holiday Schedule. Most buses will run on a Sunday schedule.
The “In-Between” Days (Dec 26 – Jan 2)

Modified Weekdays: Trains will run on a modified weekday schedule. Several morning peak trains on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line are canceled, but extra late-morning trains are added for holiday shoppers.

MetLife Stadium: On Sunday, Dec 28, the Meadowlands Rail Line will operate for the Jets vs. Patriots game.
New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) & New Year’s Day

Extended Service: Extra outbound trains will run from NYC and Hoboken after midnight to get revelers home safely.

Raritan Valley Line: Direct service from New York Penn Station will operate all night long.

STRICT ENFORCEMENT: No beverages of any kind (including water, soda, or alcohol) are permitted on any NJ TRANSIT vehicle from Dec 31 through early Jan 1.
