Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday morning Ridgewood Police and NJ Transit Police removed a homeless encampment from the Ridgewood train station .There appears to be a group of homeless living in the center of the platform in one of the heated buildings . An ambulance whisked away at lest person perhaps needing medical attention.
Do we know if they were taken to a safe, sheltered place? Can we find out what happened to them? Thanks!
This post is VERY light on details and begs the following questions:
1) How many people were relocated? One, fifty, some other number?
2) Were there ‘structures’ that made up this ‘encampment’?
3) If the answer to #2 above is ‘yes’, then how many ‘structures’ were there in the ‘encampment’?
4) What were the structures made of (cardboard, tents, some other material)?
5) What is being done to prevent such an encampment from cropping up in the future?
These details would have been helpful had they been included in the original post.
Some other town’s problem now.
Yes, where were they taken? ummm
Heard they’ve set up shop in the Schedler house , the old Town Garage and the former Elks HQ building. Squatters rights!
The person removed from the train platform was intoxicated.
NJT Cops earning their $200k salaries.
Where do you expect them to live until the garage is finished?

New Garage Elevators& stairways will be unmanageable …Homeless people
have to get out of the rain and cold wind and the economy is collapsing
and commuter trains will crack down
pushing the homeless out of the Train
stations into alternate covered areas
Public Garages , Elevators etc
Doesn’t Bergen county have a homeless shelter somewhere people need somewhere to go.
Can’t wait for the GINORMOUS GARAGE to be built so we can end all crime and vagrancy in RW !!!
Just wait until all these apartment buildings are completed people will be walking around 24 seven. And no one can stop them. People are going to be working all different kind of shifts. What are we going to do have the police pull over people for walking, jogging, exercising in the middle of the night. That would be against the law we are making the village into a little city so this will be the new norm.
What does the Chamber of Commerce care? As long as the bicycle shop and the Greek can stay open.
So very true. There will be definitely people walking around the CBD 24 seven. You can’t stop people from exercising through the night. Unless they come up with some kind of municipal bullshit law. But then again you can wipe your ass with that too.
Well it didn’t take to long for the sky is falling garage assholes to chime in.
And like you give a rats ass about where these people ended up…please.
The fools here are the ones that built it on borrowed money ..That a fact …
Jack …
Even Heather Mailander is afraid of crime in the garage. She said at the last council meeting that she didn’t want to make pass holders park on the roof of the garage where it would be dangerous. Yes. She said this.
No problem
We can assign endless resources to make the unsafe municipal garage feel safe but never really will be safe
These are open structures by design
and parking there will not be cheap Nor Safe at Night or in winter..next chapter Rent a Cars on the Ramps to
make the initial investment not seem ridiculously irresponsible
You people are clearly police union related hucksters just trying to get more cops hired here even though Valley is moving to Paramus. What parking garage crime can you cite in statistics for Bergen county? You can’t.
More police officers hired? NO!!! We already have an army of police officers to (over)patrol a small village. Did I mention that they’re cruising around in *brand-new* vehicles with blacked-out windows? That’s a tax-related issue, though…
I agree but to patrol “a small village”? Its become a city!
You ARROGANT guys DO NOT KNOW S H.I.I.T.
