Edgewater NJ, a Hudson County man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm at another driver during a road rage incident early Thursday morning, according to Edgewater Police Chief Donald Martin.
Gunpoint Threat During Road Rage on River Road
At approximately 12:55 a.m., Edgewater police responded to a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. The victim stated he was traveling north on River Road when a white SUV aggressively brake-checked him. As the victim passed the SUV, he noticed the driver’s-side door open and saw the suspect allegedly pointing a handgun with a laser attachment at him.
Edgewater Police Make Swift Arrest
Shortly after receiving the call, Edgewater officers located and stopped the SUV. A search of the vehicle revealed:
???? Loaded 9mm handgun with no serial number
???? Laser attachment on the weapon
???? Marijuana in distribution quantities
???? A scale and multiple small zip-lock bags
Suspect Identified and Facing Multiple Charges
Authorities identified the suspect as Marcos Diaz of Union City. He is now facing several serious charges, including:
✅ Unlawful possession of a weapon
✅ Possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes
✅ Aggravated assault (pointing a firearm)
✅ Possession of a defaced firearm
✅ Transporting a firearm without a serial number
✅ Drug distribution charges
Children in the SUV Lead to Additional Charges
Police also confirmed that minors were present in the vehicle at the time of Diaz’s arrest. As a result, he is additionally charged with:
???? Endangering the welfare of children
???? Allowing a minor access to a loaded firearm
Suspect Held in Bergen County Jail
Following his arrest, Diaz was transported to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits his first court appearance.
