Glen Rock NJ, a local recycler who was told by workers at his local drop-off facility that they don’t accept Styrofoam went berserk and hurled the plastic foam at the staff . According to Borough Police Chief Dean Ackermann , a 69-year-old man, authorities said, sought to drop off Styrofoam Friday afternoon at the Glen Rock Recycling Center and became “irate” when he was told the site didn’t recycle foam.
“I am mad as hell and I’m not going to take it ” :The man caused a disturbance, was abusive toward employees, and then threw his Styrofoam and walked off all captured on surveillance video, Chief Ackermann said.
Police found the man several hours later driving on Pinelynn Road and issued him a summons for illegal dumping and an unrelated summons for a failure to keep right violation.

Tempest in a teapot
Guy’s day went from bad to worse, $100 littering fine just because he was told “no we don’t accept Styrofoam”. Glen Rock was a victim of its own recycling success as they just recently stopped accepting styrofoam (the container would fill up within hours). DWP now moved to designated styrofoam recycling dates, I guess he didn’t get the memo.
It’s sad that the DPW workers have to deal with entitled a**holes like that, especially since every time I’ve visited they always offer their assistance and treat everyone with respect.
Guy’s day went from bad to worse, enjoy that $100 littering fine.
I just throw mine in the trash’ done .
