Glen Rock NJ, a series of cell phone package thefts in and around Glen Rock has led to the arrest of 13 individuals linked to an international theft ring, local police announced this week.

The Glen Rock Police Department collaborated with Homeland Security, the FBI, the NYPD, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, and other local law enforcement agencies to investigate a wave of package thefts targeting residential homes. The investigation uncovered a nationwide conspiracy involving the theft of high-value electronic shipments.

13 Suspects Indicted in Nationwide Theft Scheme

Last Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed that 13 individuals were charged in connection with an international ring specializing in cell phone shipment thefts. Those arrested include:

  • Demetrio Reyes Martinez, a.k.a “CookieNerd,” 37, Dominican Republic
  • Andrickson Jerez, 28, Bronx, NY
  • Edickson Lora Castillo, 24, New York City
  • Raimond Cabrera De Leon, 31, New York City
  • Luis Marte Tavares, 33, Brooklyn, NY
  • Frederick Duverge Guzman, 26, New York City
  • Julio Vasquez Sanchez, a.k.a “BotTrack,” 30, Brooklyn, NY
  • Alejandro Then Castillo, 45, Paterson, NJ
  • Wilson Peralta Tavarez, 28, Belleville, NJ
  • Ecker Montero Hernandez, 25, Paterson, NJ
  • Jean Luis Diaz Dominguez, a.k.a. “Botija,” 24, Paterson, NJ
  • Luis Nunez, 23, Paterson, NJ
  • Joel Suriel, a.k.a. “La Melma,” 31, Brooklyn, NY

Each suspect has been indicted for conspiracy to transport and receive stolen property, while Castillo, Tavares, and Jerez face additional charges.

How the Theft Ring Operated

Authorities revealed that the suspects were part of an organized international network that systematically targeted FedEx and other major shipping carriers.

📦 How They Stole Packages:

  • The ring identified high-value shipments by obtaining electronic tracking information from FedEx and a major cell phone carrier.
  • Members of the group bribed employees to provide delivery details, ensuring that the stolen packages contained expensive electronics.
  • Once intercepted, the stolen cell phones and devices were distributed through underground markets.

Local Package Thefts Helped Crack the Case

The investigation gained momentum after Glen Rock residents reported multiple package thefts. These thefts, initially appearing to be isolated incidents, led law enforcement to connect the dots and uncover the broader international operation.

“The defendants were part of an international and nationwide ring involved in the widespread theft of electronic device shipments from FedEx and other carriers,” Glen Rock police stated.

What’s Next?

With these arrests, federal and local authorities continue to investigate the scope of the theft ring and any additional accomplices involved. As the legal process unfolds, more details may emerge regarding the impact of the stolen goods and the individuals behind the scheme.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to package deliveries.
