River Edge NJ, the holiday season isn’t over until the King’s Cake is cut! If you’re looking for a way to cap off your winter celebrations with history, community, and great food, the Bergen County Historical Society invites you to a timeless tradition.

On Sunday, January 11, 2026, step back in time at Historic New Bridge Landing for our annual Twelfth Night Celebration. This is more than just a party; it’s a revival of a centuries-old custom where fellowship and “New Year cheer” take center stage.

What is Twelfth Night?

Inspired by the lively tavern scenes in Jan Steen’s famous 17th-century paintings, Twelfth Night marks the end of the Christmas season. The highlight of the event is the tradition of the King’s Cake. Hidden within the cake is a small token—find it, and you are crowned “King” or “Queen” for the day!
