Kyleigh’s Law : Can technology replace teen driver decals?
Parents concerned that license plate decals could result in driving-age children being followed, harassed or worse are hoping technology can provide a less public way of identifying teen drivers to law enforcement. Whether that’s possible yet is another question.
A bill proposed in February by Sens. Jennifer Beck and Christopher Bateman, R-Monmouth, would suspend a provision of Kyleigh’s Law — requiring teen drivers in the Graduated Driver’s License program to display a small red decal on their license plate identifying them to police as GDL drivers — until technology can provide an alternative.
