Fair Lawn NJ, this Black Friday, skip the mall doorbusters and head to the library for a truly unique steal! The Maurice M. Pine Free Public Library in Fair Lawn, Bergen County, is liquidating its globally famous wedding dress lending collection with a final FREE gown giveaway this week.
The one-of-a-kind program, which captured national media attention from People magazine to the Today show, is officially ending, and they are giving away the remaining dresses on a first-come, first-served basis.

The End of an Era: A Program That Captured the World
Library Director Adele Puccio launched the lending program in early 2023 out of a love for vintage fashion and the simple desire to give beautiful gowns a second life. The concept quickly exploded, drawing brides-to-be from states as far away as Rhode Island and Tennessee.
However, the immense popularity and the logistics of managing over 100 gowns stored in the director’s office became “exhausting,” taking away time from other essential library business.
While many patrons expressed sadness on social media that the program is ending, the library noted the collection will live on: any remaining dresses not claimed on November 28th will be donated to the Elizabeth Public Library, which plans to incorporate them into a formalwear giveaway event.
