I told you guys last week do you see what’s going on in the CBD. Many stores are closing up retail is hurting the rents are too high in Ridgewood people do not want to pay for parking I’ll go to the mall or go somewhere else where there’s free parking. This parking garage is not going to be for retailers you will see it will be used for out-of-towners to park your car to ride the train watch you’ll see. 25 years ago the CBD was a ghost town there were over 60 vacancies. Now you have 66 restaurants would establishments what have you. Remember
Hold on a second, Remember. Take it easy now. The town council will apportion parking spaces at the upcoming parking garage. That is what I heard them say. A certain number of spaces reserved for Ridgewood commuters with purchased permit ; possibly a certain number reserved for out of towners with permit; a certain number left for shoppers and diners. Metered or kiosk. First come; first served on those; just like now on the streets and lots of the CBD.
The stores closing that is a different problem due to online shopping mainly. More eateries and hair salons etc will open to serve the upcoming apartment dwellers. In two years about, the apt. dwellers will add more business to the CBD, certainly in restaurants and hair salons. Those will be high-end shoppers; commuters who come off the train and eat out. Or order in from the restaurants. Restaurants that deliver will start opening up in the CBD.
Don’t let the council bullshit you. There is PLENTY of parking in the CDB. Perhaps not *right* in front of the establishment you’re frequenting. You might have to walk a block or two. Is that a reason to build a F’king parking garage? Let’s get real: the reason this council wants to build the garage is because they want a capital project to put on their resumes for when they go back into industry. That’s it. Anyone who’s done a proper needs assessment will quickly realize that there isn’t a need for a garage due to lack of parking space. But, the townspeople are sheep (who get slaughtered) and let the council do as it wishes. So very sad…

No problem we have 20 vacancies maybe a little bit more
Outrageous that we are funding a garage for out of towners to park for train. Council should resign (or volunteer to pay all our taxes.)

Damn.
If we only had a GINORMOUS GARAGE then this would not be happening.
