CLIFTON, NJ — September 3, 2025 — A Bergen County man has been arrested in connection with a fatal Clifton car crash that killed a 17-year-old passenger earlier this year, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Tyler Robinson, 20, of Lodi, was charged on September 2 with:

First-degree death by auto

Second-degree death by auto

Three counts of third-degree assault by auto
Prosecutors have filed a motion for pre-trial detention, with a hearing to be scheduled in Passaic County Superior Court.
Fatal March Crash in Clifton
The charges stem from a crash that occurred around 12:30 a.m. on March 2 at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Crooks Avenue in Clifton.
According to investigators, Robinson was driving a Honda Accord carrying four people when it collided with a Mazda CX-9, which was occupied only by the driver.
Tragically, a 17-year-old passenger in the Accord was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Potential Penalties Robinson Faces
If convicted, Robinson faces serious prison time:

10 to 20 years for first-degree death by auto

5 to 10 years for second-degree death by auto

3 to 5 years for each assault by auto charge
