Mahwah NJ,  the Mahwah Public Schools are gearing up for a new chapter in strategic planning, and they’re inviting the community to be part of the conversation. With the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan nearing its conclusion, the district is hosting a series of public meetings to reflect on progress and chart a course for the next five years.

These gatherings aim to inform residents about the district’s accomplishments and involve them in shaping the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.

Meeting Schedule and Details

The district has announced three key dates for community input:

  • December 16, 2023: The kickoff meeting will be held at Joyce Kilmer School’s gymnasium from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. An outside facilitator will guide attendees in sharing perspectives and gathering insights.
  • February 27, 2024, and April 9, 2024: These follow-up meetings will focus on synthesizing ideas and finalizing the Strategic Blueprint 2025-2030. Locations for these sessions will be announced closer to the dates.

Community members are encouraged to RSVP here to participate.

Reflecting on the 2020-2025 Blueprint

The current strategic plan, shaped through town hall meetings, focused on four key areas:

  1. Curriculum and Instruction
  2. Social-Emotional Learning
  3. Community Connections
  4. Facilities

The district describes these areas as the foundation for its recent work and hopes to build upon them in the new blueprint.

“We’re leveraging the same process to set a blueprint for the next five years,” the district said. “We expect the community to once again play a pivotal role. Please join us as we re-imagine, together, what Mahwah Township Public Schools can look like through the next five school years!”

Why Your Voice Matters

Community engagement has always been a cornerstone of Mahwah’s planning efforts. The district recognizes the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping policies and initiatives that best serve students, families, and educators.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or resident, your input can help define the unique vision—dubbed the Flight of the Thunderbird—that will guide Mahwah schools into the future.
