Washington DC, the Trump administration’s ongoing reduction of the federal workforce has led to another round of mass layoffs, with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) cutting nearly 25% of its 82,000 employees. This move is part of a broader effort to streamline government operations, with more than 55,000 federal workers dismissed this year—excluding 75,000 who accepted buyouts.

Which Agencies Were Hit the Hardest?

Among the agencies affected by the HHS layoffs, the most significant reductions occurred at:
🔴 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – 3,500 jobs lost (19% of workforce)
🔴 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – 2,400 jobs lost
🔴 National Institutes of Health (NIH) – 1,200 jobs lost

These cuts or reassignments are expected to save $1.8 billion from HHS’ $1.8 trillion budget. However, they also include dozens of high-ranking health officials, including Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, the successor to Dr. Anthony Fauci.

More Layoffs Expected Across Federal Agencies

🚨 Hundreds of thousands more federal job reductions are anticipated in the coming months.
🚨 The Department of Transportation (DOT) has already begun offering buyouts to employees, providing pay and benefits through September 30 for those who voluntarily leave.

What’s Next?

The federal government’s downsizing is expected to continue, with additional workforce reductions across multiple agencies. Stay tuned for updates on the impact of these cuts on public services and government operations.
