MAHWAH, NJ – A popular Bergen County dining spot, Novino Ristorante, has been forced to close indefinitely after a significant fire erupted at the establishment in the early hours of Thursday morning, October 2nd.
The Mahwah Fire Department Company 2 responded to Novino Ristorante on Ramapo Valley Road around 4:15 a.m., finding a fire active in the back of the building. Due to the seriousness of the situation, fire companies from across the township were dispatched, alongside a large contingent of mutual aid departments from both New Jersey and New York.
Restaurant Confirms Extended Closure
Thankfully, no one was inside the restaurant when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported. However, the damage to the building was extensive.
Novino Ristorante confirmed the serious impact in a heartfelt Facebook post to its patrons:
“Due to the seriousness of the fire, all operations will be affected and Novino will be closed for an extended period. We will keep you informed through social media as we begin our recovery process.”
The community now faces a long wait before this Ramapo Valley Road fixture can reopen its doors.
Gratitude for First Responders
In their statement, Novino Ristorante offered profound thanks to the numerous first responders whose quick action prevented further damage to the building.
“Your service never goes unnoticed, and truly was on display during our darkest hours,” the restaurant’s post read.
Agencies from several North Jersey towns, including Ramsey, Wyckoff, Allendale, Oakland, Ho-Ho-Kus, Montvale, and Midland Park, as well as New York departments from Suffern, Tallman, and Hillburn, responded to the complex mutual aid call.
