Washington DC, President Donald Trump announced late Thursday evening, via a lengthy Truth Social post on Thanksgiving Day, a radical overhaul of U.S. immigration policy, stating his intention to “permanently pause migration” from all “Third World Countries.”
The announcement follows the tragic targeted attack on two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., allegedly carried out by an Afghan national who entered the country under the Operation Allies Welcome program in 2021.
Sweeping Immigration Provisions Announced
President Trump justified the proposed measure by stating that immigration policy has “eroded” technological gains and living conditions for many Americans.
The proposed policy shift includes several sweeping provisions:

Permanent Pause: Immediately and permanently pausing migration from all nations categorized as “Third World Countries.”

Mass Termination: Terminating “all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions,” including those signed via Autopen.

Denial of Benefits: Ending all federal benefits and subsidies for “noncitizens.”

Denaturalization and Deportation: Denaturalizing migrants who “undermine domestic tranquility” and deporting any foreign national who is a public charge, security risk, or “non-compatible with Western Civilization.”
“Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation,” the President stated in his post.
Context: The D.C. National Guard Attack
The President’s severe comments came hours after authorities identified the suspect in Wednesday’s fatal ambush on two National Guard members near the White House as Rahmanaullah Lakanwal, 29, who entered the U.S. from Afghanistan in 2021.

Victim Status: West Virginia National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed, and Guardsman Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains critically wounded.

Suspect Background: Lakanwal reportedly served in the elite NDS-03 counterterrorism unit in Afghanistan, a paramilitary “Zero Unit” that worked with the CIA. Despite his service, he had applied for asylum and received approval under the Trump administration in April of this year.
In response to the shooting, the Trump administration has already taken immediate, rigorous action. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow confirmed the President requested a “full-scale, rigorous reexamination” of every green card holder from at least 19 “countries of concern.”
The administration also announced an indefinite suspension of “processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals” pending a review of vetting protocols.
