Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood police, fire, EMS, and Emergency Services personnel provided security, emergency standby protection, and ground transportation on Saturday morning in conjunction with the transfer of a critically ill patient from The Valley Hospital Ridgewood to Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore via air ambulance.  A medical transport helicopter landed on an athletic field at the rear of Ridgewood Village Hall shortly after 10 AM as dozens of bystanders watched.  HIPPA laws prevented the release of any information related to the patient’s illness.

  1. With Boyd at the story location……..was it an auto accident? Or other that you can report (as a reporter). Thanks.

  2. Valley needs a heliport.

  3. Where can they put it ?……….. Not in my backyard….. ha ha ha

  4. Summit ? And to the blogger who commented a few week’s ago that there have not been any of these transfers in several years, guess what !

  5. “Ridgewood police, fire, EMS, and Emergency Services personnel provided security, emergency standby protection, and ground transportation on Saturday morning”

Who covers the cost ? Taxpayers? What did not get done because Village workers were engaged in this?

  6. Seriously #5? Do you really begrudge someone who is sick enough to be airlifted to Johns Hopkins for some (presumably) life saving procedure?

  7. This is newsworthy? Its a daily occurance in most states.

  8. Most important is that the patient will be able to get the care that he or she needs. Unfortunately after Jan 01 if you are unfortunate enough to have an ‘obamacare’ med insurance policy, you will be stuck ‘in network’ and won’t be able to get your life saved at Johns Hopkins. I bet all of you who voted for Obummer can’t wait to have the government tell you who gets what treatment for medical issues.

  9. reel cool

  10. # 5 if your serious and not tongue in cheek then you are truly a disturbed individual.

  11. With the design of the new North Building, it will be the perfect place for a helicopter to land.

  12. You got it !!!
