Multi-Vehicle Crash Temporarily Closes Broadway in Elmwood Park: Jaws of Life Used to Free Occupant

Elmwood Park NJ, a serious multi-vehicle collision on westbound Broadway in Elmwood Park late Sunday afternoon, June 29, temporarily shut down a portion of the roadway and required emergency crews to use the Jaws of Life to extricate a trapped occupant.

🚨 Emergency Response and Rescue

First responders from multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene, including:

  • Elmwood Park Police Department

  • Elmwood Park Fire Department

  • Elmwood Park EMS

  • Fair Lawn Rescue Squad

  • Bergen County EMS

Two individuals sustained injuries in the crash and were transported to local area hospitals via separate ambulances. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

🚗 Vehicles Involved

The crash involved at least:

  • A Hyundai KONA, from which a person had to be extricated using hydraulic rescue tools.

  • A Honda Accord coupe

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene.

🔄 Traffic Impact

The crash temporarily closed a portion of westbound Broadway, causing traffic delays in the area. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area while the scene was being cleared and investigated.

As of now, no official cause for the crash has been released. The Elmwood Park Police Department is leading the investigation into what caused the accident.
