North Haldon NJ, Please be advised, we have been receiving reports of bear sightings in the area of Squaw Brook Road and Saw Mill Road. The bear was last seen toward Squaw Brook Road and High Mountain Road. Please use caution.
We are aware of an injured bear, last seen in the area of Graham Avenue. The NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife has been contacted and will be investigating.
North Haledon Police Department a Bear has also been sighted in the area of Buehler’s Cultural Center, located at 950 High Mountain Road. Please use caution while walking in the area.
I now wear a whistle around my neck when taking out the garbage at night. No lie.
Fortunately, I have not had to use it. It just makes me feel better.
The man at the store recommended blowing it for 30 seconds before walking away from my house. I noted that my neighbors would be unlikely to appreciate this nighttime stratagem twice a week and have not done it.
