N.J. Democrats to push for paid sick time

TRENTON – New Jersey Democrats and labor activists are pushing to require private employers to provide paid leave for workers who are sick or who need to attend to loved ones with an illness. About 38 percent of the state’s private-sector workforce, or 1.2 million employees, do not have access to earned sick leave, according to a 2013 study by the Rutgers Center for Women and Work. 1. Imagine your weekly landscaper or housecleaner called to say he/she can’t make it today because he/she is not feeling well, but still expects you to pay him/her?

Sound crazy? You wouldn’t stand for it, right?

Let’s make NJ even more business unfriendly than it already is.

  2. ha ha – right.

The people pushing for this (paid sick leave) are the same ones who bash any proposed NJ corporate tax benefits while at the same time praise Democratically run NY which has implemeted massive corporate tax incentivesis and is currently running an ad campain to tout these corporate incentives (wich BTW are very effective in driving business to NY and lowering unemployment in NY and bolstering the economic recovery in NY)

  3. Is it a wonder that nobody is hiring here?
“People’s Republic of New Jerkey” should be the new state name…comrade!

  4. Just saw a TV ad for “StartUpNY” – Businesses pay NO TAXES for 10 years.

    NEW YORK
    IS TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

There’s a new advantage to doing business in New York. A big one. START-UP NY, Governor Cuomo’s groundbreaking initiative, is transforming communities across the state into tax-free sites for new and expanding businesses. Now, businesses can operate 100% tax-free for 10 years. No income tax, business, corporate, state or local taxes, sales and property taxes, or franchise fees.

Can you imagine the Democrat firestorm if Christie backed a plan like that in NJ!
