River Edge NJ, new details are emerging in a chilling case that crossed state lines and involved the FBI. What began as a terrifying $1,000 ransom demand for a 12-year-old girl has led to the arrest of a New Jersey man and the discovery of four missing juveniles in the Hudson Valley.
A Parent’s Nightmare: The $1,000 Ransom Call
The investigation began in Spring Valley, New York, on Sunday, Feb. 8. A local family reported their 12-year-old daughter missing after she vanished in the early morning hours. Shortly after, the family received a disturbing call from a foreign phone number.
The caller claimed the girl had been kidnapped and demanded a $1,000 ransom for her safe return.
FBI and Local Police Launch Multi-Agency Rescue
Recognizing the high-stakes nature of the threat, Spring Valley Detectives immediately partnered with the FBI’s NY-Westchester Safe Streets Task Force.
The joint operation led authorities to a residence in Spring Valley. There, they found the missing 12-year-old—but she wasn’t alone. Three other missing juveniles from various Rockland County jurisdictions were also located at the scene. Fortunately, police confirmed that none of the children appeared physically harmed or restrained.
The Connection: A Quality Inn Hotel Party
As detectives retraced the children’s steps, the investigation led back to the Quality Inn in Spring Valley.
Police allege that in the early hours of Feb. 8, the four juveniles attended a party at the hotel hosted by 22-year-old Mynor Ramirez-Martinez of New Jersey. Investigators claim that Ramirez-Martinez provided alcohol to the underage teens during the gathering.
Charges and Ongoing Investigation
Following the investigation into the hotel gathering, an arrest warrant was issued for Ramirez-Martinez. On Thursday, Feb. 19, he was taken into custody and charged with:

Four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Ramirez-Martinez was processed and later released on a desk appearance ticket.
